Concrete Installation Requirements

The Slat Solution™ Surface-Mounted WPC Fence System is designed for installation on structurally sound reinforced concrete using a surface-mount base plate and expansion anchor system. Depending on site conditions, contractors may choose between direct mounting to existing reinforced concrete or installation into a newly poured concrete footing.

Existing concrete installations utilize the supplied surface-mount base plate and expansion anchors, while new concrete installations may incorporate optional Concrete Base Extension Adapters for additional embedded post support and stability. The appropriate installation method should be determined based on project requirements, concrete conditions, site characteristics, and contractor preference.

Composite Fence Surface Mounting Installation

Existing Concrete Installation

For installations on existing concrete surfaces, fence posts may be mounted directly to the concrete using the supplied surface-mount base plate and expansion anchors.

Requirements:

  • Minimum Concrete Thickness: 12" (1 ft.)
  • Minimum Concrete Mounting Area: 12" x 12" per post
  • Concrete must be reinforced, level, structurally sound, and free of cracks or deterioration
  • Not recommended for pavers, loose masonry, asphalt, or damaged concrete surfaces

Post & Anchor Details:

  • Post Size: 3" x 3" Powder-Coated Metal
  • Anchor Type: Expansion Anchors
  • Anchor Length: 3.5"
  • Installation Type: Direct Surface Mount
New Concrete Footing Installation for Fence post

New Concrete Footing Installation

27.5" Concrete Base Extension

For new fence installations, our Concrete Base Extension Adapters can be embedded directly into freshly poured concrete to provide additional post support and long-term stability. This installation method creates a reinforced connection between the fence post and concrete footing, helping improve overall structural performance.

Ideal for standard residential installations and moderate support requirements.

Typical Footing Size:

  • 12" Wide x 30" Deep
  • Minimum Concrete Strength: 3,000 PSI

Benefits:

  • Provides 27.5" of embedded post support
  • Creates a stronger connection between the post and footing
  • Helps reduce post movement over time
  • Provides additional reinforcement for demanding installations
  • Enhances overall post stability and long-term durability

Contractors who choose not to use a Concrete Base Extension Adapter may install posts directly to reinforced concrete. See the Existing Concrete Installation section above for mounting requirements.

47.25" Concrete Base Extension

Provides nearly 4 feet of embedded post support for increased stability in demanding installations.

Typical Footing Size:

  • 12" Wide x 48" Deep
  • Minimum Concrete Strength: 3,000 PSI

Ideal For:

  • New fence installations
  • Elevated installations
  • Retaining walls up to 4 ft. in height
  • Projects requiring maximum post stability

Important Notes

  • Concrete Base Extension Adapters are intended for new concrete pours where the adapter can be embedded directly into the footing.
  • Existing concrete installations may be mounted directly to concrete using the supplied base plate and expansion anchors when the substrate is adequate for the application.
  • Contractors should evaluate site conditions, wind exposure, soil conditions, and local building requirements when determining the appropriate installation method.
  • All installations should comply with applicable local building codes and project-specific requirements.
  • The use of Concrete Base Extension Adapters is optional and may provide additional post support and stability in certain applications.
